The washed ashore police boat, no. 813, lies in the jungle to the east of route 4 (Petchakasem Road), at Bang Niang. This boat now symbolises a small tsunami memorial site, and services for the tsunami memorial commemorations are held here. Thai Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya was staying at a well known Bang Niang hotel at the time of the tsunami - hence the presence of the originally moored police boat, according to reports.
